For more than two decades, Lauren has been involved in leading, shaping and sustaining organizational growth for nonprofit, corporate, and government organizations. She specializes in strategically growing nonprofit organizations through fundraising, organizational development, planning and brand building. Lauren is a founding partner of Due East Partners LLC. Among her current clients, Lauren leads Investor Relations as a senior consultant for the 2010-2020 Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, working with the Annie E. Casey Foundation and other national funders, 50+ sector-leading organizations and 160+ communities in 41 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands. The goal of this decade-long, cross-sector initiative is to improve third-grade reading proficiency for children from low-income families as a key predictor of high school graduation and future life success. Lauren has led many successful fundraising campaigns, most recently raising $10 million in current or planned gifts for the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County. Before that, she raised $10 million to build a homeless shelter/homelessness prevention center and $5 million for a new Boys & Girls Club. Before launching her own consulting business, Lauren was the Vice President of Development for Community Foundation Sonoma County in Santa Rosa, CA. There Lauren transformed the Community Foundation’s development operation—raising nearly $40 million in three years and enhancing the foundation’s visibility among major donors and opinion leaders. Lauren continues to work with various community foundations on growth and sustainability challenges. Earlier in her career, Lauren gained valuable experience in organization development as a consultant to Fortune 500 companies for Hewitt Associates, specializing in human resources, change management, and communications for companies experiencing major growth or transitions such as mergers, acquisitions, or restructuring. Lauren holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University and a Master of Science in Journalism (MSJ) from the Medill School at Northwestern University and professional certification in Transition Management from William Bridges & Associates. Lauren earned her Bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University and is a 1991 national Harry S Truman Scholar. Originally from southern New Jersey, Lauren lives in the Annapolis, MD area with her husband Rick and three children, Lily, Jackson and Tariku.
