Women in Social Change Breakfast

Mission-driven work is incredibly rewarding and exhausting. Progress requires us to pour our whole selves into the work, day after day, year after year.

When is the last time you did something just for yourself?

We’re calling all women who are working to improve the world around us, and inviting you to join us for 90 minutes of self-care at the inaugural Women in Social Change Breakfast. The event will feature the opportunity to network, a short talk, Q+A and of course, coffee and breakfast.

Dr. Diana Jackson-Lovett, Leadership Coach, Consultant and Pastor, will guide a conversation about “Sustaining the Work, Sustaining Ourselves”.

Whether you are a non-profit leader, a corporate social responsibility professional or a passionate volunteer, we welcome you to meet and grow with like-minded women.

This gathering is organized and hosted by Due East Partners, an Annapolis-based, women-owned firm committed to lifting up leaders who are advancing social and environmental progress. Due East is excited to support the next generation of women who are stirring things up.

Secure Legacies and Sustain Missions: Start Building a Successful Planned Giving Program

With speakers Lisa Hillman and Margo Cook

One of the most important parts of a successful nonprofit’s fundraising strategy is a strong planned giving program. However, it often gets forgotten, overlooked, or pushed aside. The reasons for this range from lack of information, fear of lack of technical knowledge, some misconceptions, and the fact that sometimes the urgent need for “immediate cash” overshadows the devotion to securing future income strategically. But a focus on immediate cash giving alone is a narrow view that can create the feeling of a hamster stuck in a wheel – always running to catch the next dollar without an opportunity to pause to build up some sustainable funding. This is where planned giving truly shines, and can create opportunities for current & future growth in various ways.

Using Due East’s expertise, participants will learn how to build a successful program from scratch, how to access the resources to make it easily sustainable, and how to ensure long-term sustainability of their organization as a result. This session will provide you with easy-to-start steps (regardless of budget constraints), general planned giving education and background, successful stewardship and cultivation tactics to implement immediately, and a game plan for how you can move forward for your organization. It will also include a case study format to showcase real-life examples and success stories.

Women in Social Change Coffee Clutch - Friday, April 3rd @ Zoom

Friends, we are thrilled by the response to this gathering. This one is currently filled up but we are trying to add a second discussion on Friday morning.  Please email bess@dueeastpartners.com if you are interested in participating.  We will update the website shortly and respond to your emails as quickly as possible.  Thank you for being connected to us and for all of the good work you do.

Under normal circumstances, mission-driven work is innately challenging. Amidst a global COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing, our work is harder than ever. Onsite and from virtual “offices,” social change leaders are working around the clock to provide uninterrupted, often vital services to your clients and customers while keeping employees safe and connected. We know many of us have had to lay off team members and take on new responsibilities to stay afloat, while caring for children, extended family and friends. Amidst all of this, self-care has likely fallen to the bottom of the list.

How can you take care of yourself right now?

We’re inviting women in social change to gather for one hour of self-care, connection and hopefully a few laughs at our virtual Coffee Talk. This gathering via Zoom of up to 20 women leaders (keeping it small to allow for conversation and idea exchange) will give us all a chance to discuss what we’re learning, what’s working and what’s challenging about our “new normal”. We’re asking everyone to come with one good idea for adapting to this change and/or self-care tip you’d like to share.

Where: Zoom (info to be shared through registration)
When: Friday, April 3rd, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
