The National Wildlife Federation

Background

Nearly one-third of America’s fish and wildlife are at risk of extinction in the coming decades. In 2016, the National Wildlife Federation and its 50 affiliates sounded the alarm about the staggering decline in the U.S. wildlife population, jointly committing to reverse this decline within 30 years.

“The National Wildlife Federation gave Due East Partners a simple task:  to manage a process that included 300+ stakeholders, 51 state/territorial affiliates and 50 partners organizations to develop an integrated, actionable and measurable strategic plan.  It was the ultimate test of whether it was possible to bring together disparate voices for collective impact.  The results were spectacular.  I cannot recommend them highly enough.”

The Process

Due East designed and facilitated a strategic planning process to create a four-year “downpayment” on this 30-year vision, engaging 300+ of its key constituents including board members, staff, affiliates, partners and supporters over the course of 8 months to create NWF’s Common Agenda for Wildlife.

The Results

The National Wildlife Federation and its 50 affiliates came together as “One Federation” jointly committing to advance three strategic priorities and achieve 5 metrics of success by the end of the 4-year plan.

100%

of NWF affiliates endorsed the Common Agenda for Wildlife outlined in the Strategic Plan.
